Should I be concerned?

I’ve just had surgery to remove suspected cancer from my bladder.

The surgeon placed chemo in my bladder afterwards so I think he was suspicious of cancer .

There was two tumours next to each other at the dome of the bladder and several other lesions throughout the bladder.

Biopsy results will be back in 3-4 weeks.

My concern is that back in September 24, I had an MRI at UCLH and amongst other things they noted a lung nodules and lesions all they down my spine and in my clivus.

Initially they were going to biopsy a lesion in my spine but then chose to monitor the situation instead with MRI’s every 3 months.

However, since I’ve had this diagnosis of highly likely bladder cancer, I feel I should push to have the lung nodules and spinal lesions looked at more closely!

Thank you for your valuable time.

  • Hi Spook,

    Welcome to our forum.

I am glad to hear that you have had your bladder surgery. This is always an anxious time, as you wait for your results. Why not wait until you get your results? You can then tell your consultant about your other problems, as he may want to investigate these alongside your bladder issues.

Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on.

We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hello, and thank you for contacting us.

I am sorry to hear what you have gone through, and you now have the wait for more news about the biopsy.

I wasn't clear from your post if it is the same team that ordered the scan and is monitoring the changes in your spine. Or, if the team dealing with your bladder knows about what happened back in September, do make sure they are aware of what happened. I am sure they will be reviewing things anyway once they have got your biopsy results back.

Take care, and I hope you get information about your situation soon. If you want to talk things through with the nurses on the helpline the number is 0808 800 4040. Lines are open mon-fri, 9-5.

    Sarah.

  • That’s it…. They’re different teams. UCLH is in London and my recent bladder surgery was in Kent.

Two totally different teams. Different surgeons nothing to do with each other.
waiting is the hard part and causing anxiety.

    Found incidentally of each other!

  • Hello Spooks and thanks for getting back to us again,

I am sorry to hear about your wait for results and I can understand what an anxious time this must be.

Try if you can to take one day at a time and not think too far ahead.

Both hospitals will have written to your GP telling them of your tests. It may be helpful to talk things through with your GP as they should be receiving information from both hospitals. Your GP can advise you whether you need to let UCHL know about your MRI follow ups

The lesion in your spine and your bladder may not be connected so try if you can not to over think it for now.

I do hope all will be well. Do give the nurses a ring if you would like to talk things through.

The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm.

    All the best,

    Catherine
