Common blood blisters on breast

Hi,

I wanted to see if the blood blisters on my breast is anything to worry about. They pop up once every few months roughly in the same area (left side or right breast) but its never more than ine at a time. They're never painful and tend to go away on their own, its just the frequency that worries me a bit.

There's a history of breast cancer on my mothers side of the family, but it hasn't shown itself fir two generations. There's a history of skin cancer on my dad's side that my dad had a minor form of (i was a bit too young to remember it properly and he doesnt like to talk about it) but from what i can remember it was on his arm.

About a year and a half ago I went to the doctors because I felt a small lump on that same breast, and my doctor said it was a fibridoma I think (she called them breast mice). I mentioned the blood blisters to her then as that's when I first noticed it, and she said it shouldn't be anything to worry about, but back then they didn't show up as often

Sorry for the wordy post, just blertung out anything I thought may be useful. Any advice is appreciated, many thanks.

  • Hi and thank you for your post,

I am sorry to learn that you are having symptoms that are causing you concern. Many people contact us because they are concerned that symptoms they have might be caused by cancer. We are unable to diagnose you and the best advice we can give is to go back and see your doctor.

Only a doctor who can assess you and send you for any necessary tests can give you a diagnosis. Although this can sometimes seem frightening, in most cases the symptoms will be caused by something else other than cancer. But it is always sensible to get any problems you have checked out to be on the safe side.

I hope this reply is helpful. If we can help in any other way please do contact us again. If you would prefer to speak to one of the nurses directly, you can telephone us on 0808 800 4040. We are here from Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm.

    Take care,

    Jemma
