My mum is 84 and originally had her ovarian cancer diagnosis 12 years ago. She received chemo and was cancer free. It came back, she had chemo again and they put her on a brilliant drug that kept everything at bay. She then found a lump in the breast, which was removed. They then found cancer on the bowel and last year she had a stoma bag fitted due to operation to remove the cancer. She is currently in hospital, on her third week, and we have just been told she has a blockage of the bowel due to a tumour related to her ovarian cancer. They said it is inoperable and they will fit a stent so she can pass fluids. They are to discuss it again next week. I have been googling, never a good thing, and the results seem quite bleak. Do they ever offer chemo at this stage, or is it mostly palliative care?
