Basal cell carcinoma removal and steam/sauna rooms

I had basal cell carcinoma got an operation last June about a year ago I was wondering would it be ok to go into a sauna/ steam room ?

  • Hello and thanks for posting

Once the scar area has fully healed, especially after a year, it is usually safe to use a sauna or steam room again. But everyone's skin heals differently. If the scar area still gets red or irritated, or feels strange in heat or humidity, it's worth being a bit cautious. Steam and heat can sometimes make scar tissue feel uncomfortable or even increase sensitivity.

Just to be on the safe side it's worth checking with your GP or dermatologist if they are happy for you to proceed.
