Hi there, I'm just curious about what to expect tomorrow at my first appointment. I've had 2 CT scans that show a solid mass on my right kidney, I suppose it's kidney cancer, how will they find out if it's spread to other parts of my body?

Hello, and thank you for your post.
At your first appointment, you are likely to be examined and asked about symptoms you have. Your doctor will discuss the scan you had, which may show other parts of your body, so the doctor may be able to say (if this is cancer), if it has spread.
What will be discussed will depend on whether your case has yet been discussed at the MDT (Multidisciplinary Team) meeting. This is where a group of specialist doctors and nurses look a the scan and the report about the patient. They may be able to confirm cancer or ask that more investigations be done. You can read about the different tests they can do to find out if someone has kidney cancer on our website.
It might be good to have someone else with you, because you may be given a lot of information, which can sometimes feel overwhelming.
You may also find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline. The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.
Take care
Caroline
