I'm so sorry to hear about how cancer has affected your life. When people we love are ill or die, it is so difficult and makes us worry about our health.

The lung checks are for those with a history of smoking and start at 55, so you are right in that you do not currently fit the criteria. Do speak to your GP about your concerns and any symptoms that worry you, and they will investigate if needed.

When we lose people to cancer, particularly if it happens to be a similar diagnosis, it is not unusual to feel there must be a hereditary or familial link. We have more information on this and the risks and causes of lung cancer on our website.
