SMEAR HIGH RISK, 2 BIOPSIES NEGATIVE

Had a smear test a little while ago and results came back High

Risk….webt for colposcopy, had 2 biopsies taken, these have

come back negative.  Nurse says must be  a minuscule dot on cervix

that can’t be seen with eye.  Say I have to go back for anothet

appointmevt as if I leave for 3 years and next smear may need to

have hysterectomy (not had a family as yet)…..have to have

treatment on a very small area…..not said what trestment is…and how

will they know if it is the right area? worried that I will have to keep

going back again and again until this “dot” is found

Advice please as really anxious

  • Hello Sheff and thank you for your post,

I can appreciate this is an anxious time for you.

Not being involved in your care we cannot say what treatment will be offered to you and how they will know they have removed it all. The best person to discuss this with will be the team at the colposcopy unit, as they are familiar with your situation or your GP.

If treatment is not offered you may be offered a repeat colposcopy in 12 months to be sure there are no further abnormal cells .

Do tell the team about your concerns as they will be able to give you more reassurance.

I am sorry I cannot be more helpful, but I hope you can get some answers soon.

Please feel free to come back to us for any further information or support,

    Take care,

    Jemma.
