GIST

Is the spread of a GIST tumour to the liver advanced or terminal? Can imatinib get rid of it?

TIA

  • Hello, and thank you for posting.

The best person to ask these questions to is the doctor or hospital team involved, as they know the individual situation.

However, I can say that GISTs are rare and complex cancers, which are often diagnosed when the cancer is already advanced.

They can be treated with Imatinib, but it is difficult to say whether it would be a cure for the cancer completely.

Take care and if you want to talk things through with the nurses on the helpline the number is 0808 800 4040. Lines are open mon-fri, 9-5.

    Sarah.
