My brother had bowel cancer removal anterior resection 4 weeks ago. Nothing from the hospital apart from a txt message to go for a ct thorax chest scan. Is this usual after bowel surgery.

Just to recap, it is not unusual for a specialist to request a scan after treatment, as part of the follow up care. In the case of recent surgery, the surgeon will want to review scans to confirm the success of the surgery, and what follow up care is planned.
