7cm Pelvic Complex Cyst

Over the last two years I have been having pain in my hips - a routine MRI (plus two dedicated ones with contrast) have flagged a 7cm complex cyst.

I was referred to gynaecology and had a subsequent, dedicated pelvic MRI two weeks ago. I’ve been eagerly awaiting the results ever since. Today, I received a call from the hospital to say that the radiologist wants me to go back in this afternoon for further MRI imaging.

Not quite sure what to make of it all and wondered whether anyone else has experienced anything of a similar nature.

  • Hello Mrs Dubbs and thanks for your post,

You have probably been for your MRI and I hope that you have had a chance to have your questions answered. It is not uncommon to have tests repeated if the doctors feel that they need a clearer image. it is difficult to be too precise without being involved in your care.

If you would like to talk things through with one of the helpline nurses then you are welcome to give us a call. the number to ring is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm.

    All the best,

    Catherine

  • Well, I went for the follow up MRI, this time with contrast and 4 weeks later I’m still waiting for the results. Maybe no news is good news?!

  • Hi Mrsdubbs and thank you for your post.

I am sorry to hear about the situation. Waiting for results of scans is seldom an easy situation to cope with.

Scan results usually take 2 to 3 weeks. But waiting times in the NHS can vary depending on the workload and staffing.

But, if you don't hear anything by next week, then do ask your GP to enquire, or ring the specialist/consultant secretary.

There is no easy way to get through the waiting times, but many people tell us that keeping busy and sticking to a routine can help a little.

I hope you know more soon and everything is ok.

Please get back to us if you need any more information or support.  You may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline.  The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5 pm Monday to Friday.

    Kind regards

    Tina
