Just diagnosed - cervical cancer

Hi,

Just got my diagnosis of adenocarcinoma this week. Waiting for the hospital consult on Monday but mostly wanted to know what's the 'normal' next steps? No staging yet so I assume scans to find this out? Or is it always a cone biopsy first? And what's the usual timeframe for procedures?

I'm in Spain so it will be slightly different, but just wanted to know what to expect in terms of timings and next steps. Also, what should I be asking on Monday?

Thanks! Any help is appreciated

  • Hello, and thank you for posting.

I am sorry to hear about your diagnosis of adenocarcinoma of the cervix, I can understand when living in another country, you want more information.

Unfortunately, it is incredibly difficult for me to say what might happen and when; it is hard for us to know timeframes even within the UK, so the timeframes in Spain would be impossible to know. We have information on our website on tests for cervical cancer if you were in the UK, which may help you.

When you are there on Monday and see the doctor, do ask about what is happening next, and when these are likely to happen. This will at least help you get an idea of how the next few weeks will pan out.

Take care and I hope you get the information you need on Monday.

    Sarah.
