Hello Roseluke and thanks for your post,
I can understand that it can be unsettling waiting for results particularly as you have had treatment for your cervix in the past. Unfortunately no one can tell you any more until you get the results back.
The Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) is responsible for causing changes in the cells and it is your own immunity that helps get on top of the virus but it can take a couple of years and in some cases it can take a bit longer. Hopefully your own immunity has been able to get on top of the virus.
The aim of the screening process is to detect abnormalities at an early stage, treat them and then continue to monitor until the cells go back to normal.
Give the nurses a ring on the helpline if you would like to talk things through. The number to ring is freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm.
All the best,
Catherine
