  • Hello Lilliethecat and thanks for your post,

I am sorry to hear about your dad. This must be hard time for your family.

The early stages of mesothelioma can start with breathlessness and then as it grows it can cause more symptoms.

It is good to hear that he has a weekly district nurse and hopefully as any symptoms develop they can help control any symptoms with medication and perhaps oxygen at home.

We have some pages on our website about living with mesothelioma which you might find helpful to look at.

Everyone's experience with cancer is slightly different so it is difficult to know when any of these symptoms may or may not happen. A lot will also depend on whether your dad has any other health conditions.

You may also find it helpful to get in touch with Mesothelioma UK which is a charity that helps to support patients and relatives diagnosed with this condition.

With your dad's permission do ask the nurses advice about his cancer and do let them know if you feel that he needs more frequent visits from the nurses.

If you would like to talk any of this through with the nurses on the helpline then you are welcome to give us a call.

The number to ring is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm.

    All the best,

    Catherine
