Hi Frien,
A very warm welcome to our forum.
I am delighted to hear that you think that your cancer is stage one and I hope that you are recovering well after your surgery. Most people with stage 1, are not advised to have chemo, but this depends on the type of breast cancer you have and how aggressive it is. Most are offered radiotherapy and if your cancer responds to Oestrogen, you may also be offered hormone therapy. If you are offered chemo, there is a predict tool, which you and your consultant can use, to determine how effective chemo would be for you. You might find it helpful to draw up a list of questions for your consultant, before seeing your surgeon for the results. However, the final decision rests with you and I hope that you manage to reach the right choice for you.
Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on.
Kind regards,
Jolamine xx
Hello, and thank you for posting.
I am sorry to hear about your stage 1 breast cancer diagnosis.
The doctors involved will go over with you what they feel is the best treatment plan for your situation.
Discuss with them the pros and cons of the treatment; they may even give you statistics, but overall, hearing their experience of your disease will be helpful.
This will then give you all the information you need to make an informed choice and the right decision for you.
Take care, and if you want to talk to the nurses then call our freephone number on 0808 800 4040. Lines are open mon-fri, 9-5.
Sarah.
