Lump on cervix

Before Christmas I found a hard lump on my cervix. Long history of CIN, had a leep 15 years ago. Recent smears all HPV negative, most recent March 2025. Not sexually active.

Went to GP, she felt it and I had a 2ww referral to colposcopy. I was first appointment of the day, doctor was an hour and a half late due to accident on the road. Appointment very rushed.

She looked and couldn’t see anything, put on some liquid and it didn’t show anything. Put on iodine which showed all clear. I asked why the lump. She said there was no lump. She showed me the tv screen where all looked normal pink. That was the end of the appointment. I can still feel the lump, in the exact same place. It has not gone, it was there!

Should I go back to the GP and ask for a second opinion or trust the colposcopy doctor? No unexplained bleeding or any serious symptoms. Just a lump which is apparently not visible to the microscope thing. I can’t get it out of my mind!

Thank you

  • Hellosal0202 and thanks for your post,

I am sorry to hear hat you are still feeling concerned after your colposcopy. I would be reassured by what the doctor said but as it is worrying you then do go back and talk it through with your GP.

It maybe a cyst such as a bartholins cyst which are small harmless lumps that can come and go and often don't need treatment.

    I hope this helps.

    All the best,

    Catherine
