Tumour

Hello,

I was recently diagnosed with an mvnt brain tumour on my left frontal lobe. I had an mri due to hearing problems (unrelated they think) and it was found and then It was suspected mvnt but they couldn’t rule out a low grade glioma. It was referred to another hospital who came back and said it’s an mvnt.

i started having headaches last year, in august my optician said i had a swollen optic nerve and sent me to the hospital for tests (still waiting on results of that!), i get pressure and pain on and around my left temple with an odd wince/throb sensation multiple times a day. but I understand as my tumour is on the left my symptoms should be on the right?.

I haven’t even had a chance to speak to a dr to tell them any of the above symptoms I have they just said I will be rescanned in December.

i assume they are confident in their diagnosis but I’ve read it could be wrong.
can I assume the above is all related to the mvnt? I’m worried it means more and I’m being ignored and forgotten.

any thoughts or advice?

thanks

  • Hello and thanks for your enquiry,

I can appreciate your concern. But you should be reassured that your scans were reviewed by several consultants to ensure a correct clinical diagnosis. It is common practice to have scans reviewed by other specialists. MVNT's being benign, are usually monitored with intermittent scanning long term. Surgery may sometimes be required, if symptoms change to become severe.

If you are worried, then talk to your GP, or contact your current hospital specialist to arrange an appointment. Brain Tumour Charity also offer support and information which may be useful.

    I hope this helps,

    Best wishes,

    Vanda
