It is normal to pass some clear/ egg white mucus even some time after surgery. Occasionally a plug of mucus can remain and not be passed. This can become smelly. Sometimes it may need to be evacuated from the remaining bowel.
If this smell is new for you, then do seek medical advice about it. Either your GP, or hospital team, or hospital stoma nurse.
Sometimes a smell can be a sign of an internal infection, that may need treating with antibiotics.
