Ultrasounder says nothing wrong

Hii!

It’s been almost 4 months since i first found my lump. Over the time it has grown in size and has come with symptoms such as night sweats, excessive itching, I am tired all the time no matter how much sleep i get and am lowkey constant ill-

I’ve had bloods that were abnormal but redone and found out to be fine, ultrasound where the guy said he wasn’t worried and ANOTHER ultrasound today where I was just told the same thing ‘I can’t see anything sinister.’

it’s very close to the surface so not sure its easily missable, it doesn’t move and it’s hard. Slightly knobly too. It started off painless but has slowly gotten bigger and is now hurting my shoulder.

No biopsy, no mri, no ct, no mammogram. Two ultrasounds (not sure why they made me do it twice after being told it was normal the first time..)

Surely they coulda told me if it was a cyst or something easily removable if not a cancerous tumour…?

Do i bother continuing to figure it out or just leave it alone and hope it isn’t anything.

I’m 17 and I just want answers to why im so ill all the time and why im growing a new boob in my armpit

  • Hi there and thanks for the post

I understand how this lump and other symptoms is worrying you but cancer at your age is rare and there is likely to be another reason other than cancer.

It seems you have had a series of tests that have come back okay which is good news and doesn't warrant further testing. If something was out of the ordinary or unusual it would be at that point they would carry out more tests.

Generally speaking mammograms aren't carried out in younger women and an ultrasound is a good way of checking out what may be causing the lump. If nothing unusual was picked up and there were no signs of cysts or other benign ( non cancerous) conditions there would be nothing to take a biopsy from.

A CT or MRI scan wouldn't normally be carried out in this sort of situation either unless something had been identified in the area that the doctor needed further information about that couldn't be obtained from a biopsy.

If you remain worried and continue to have symptoms we suggest you go back and discuss it with your GP so they can reassess you.

I hope things improve for you soon and you start feeling better in yourself

    Take it easy

    Naomi
