Hello Romanboy and thanks for your post,
I am sorry to hear about the pain that you are still experiencing.
It is normal to have pain for the first week or so but if the pain is continuing I would get in touch with the nurse specialist or the doctor at the hospital to let them know. They can advise you about appropriate medication. It is important that you let them know if you are having any other problems such as difficulty passing urine or any constipation. In some patients the discomfort can take a few weeks to ease but it is good to let the team at the hospital know that you are still in some pain.
It is also good to try and mobilise as much as possible but do try and avoid heavy lifting. You may have a follow-up appointment in the next couple of weeks but if the pain is continuing then do let them know before.
There is always the possibility of an infection.
We have some information on our website about possible problems after surgery.
We also have some information about follow-up after kidney treatment.
I do hope that the pain settles down soon.
If you would like to ring and chat through any of this with one of the helpline nurses then you are welcome to give us a call.
The number to ring is Freephone 0800 0808 4040 and the lies are open Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm
All the best,
Catherine
