Atezolizumab bevacizumab

My husband has liver cancer with mets and is having atezolizumab/bevacizumab treatment and has had three so far, he has to have a scan next week to see if it's working.  Am I right in thinking that in some people it can take 4 or 5 treatments before it begins to show any improvement

  • Hello and thank you for your post,

I am sorry to learn of your husband's situation this must be a difficult time.

It is usual for scans to be done during treatment to see how well the treatment is working. It can be an anxious time waiting for scan results.

It may take a few cycles of treatment before a response is seen. Your husband's hospital team will have in mind how much of a response they are looking for.

If your husband has a nurse specialist he could speak with about this, they may be able to give you a bit more information about what they are hoping for as they know his situation.

The uncertainty of what the scan will show must be difficult. If you would like to talk things through with one of the nurses on the helpline we are available between 9am and 5pm the freephone number to call is 0808 800 4040,

    Take care,

    Jemma
