Mole skin lesion

I have a referral with the Dermolotogist next week for a 2 coloured mole on the face between the eye and the ear. It's about 8mm irregular in shape, was slightlly itchy couple of weeks ago.
I wanted to know if anyone has had the procedure please at the appointment. Do they ask to come back for exfoliating surgery for biopsy? Does it leave a scar, cant the skin from the eye get streched when stitching up the mole after incision. Please let us know of your experience .

  • I have had a SCC skin cancer removed in this area. If your mole is cancerous the main objective is to get rid of it. Yes it will leave a scar you can worry about that later. Using moisturiser to minimise the appearance and makeup if neccessary to disguise it. I did not have any problem with skin around eye being stretched.

  • Thank you so much Ed for your response, that's helpful to know. How are you feeling now,?

Mine looks more like the Basic BCC one but leaving it for the Dermatologist to diagnosis.

Hopefully it doesn't find it's way to other organs.

  • Hello Yashodra and thanks for your post,

Everyone's situation is slightly different when they see the dermatologist.

We have some information on our website about being referred to a skin specialist. The dermatologist will assess the area and may take a biopsy. There are different types of tests that they may do to try and diagnose the different types of skin cancer that you may or may not have.

They will do all they can to minimise any scarring if they try to remove the moles.

You may hear from other members of the forum but do remember that everyone's situation may be slightly different.

If you would like to talk any of this through before your appointment then you are welcome to give us a ring.

the helpline number is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm.

    All the best,

    Catherine

  • Catherine, thanks so much for assisting. I'll be grateful for talking about it due to anxiety.
