Head cancer wearing a hat in the garden.

Hello

my 92 year old father has head cancer ,he has had excisions to remove some of it and the wounds have been under dressings since December . The doctor at dermatology has suggested leaving the wounds undressed in an attempt to dry them out and this does seem to be working .

my dad likes to spend some time in the garden and always wears a hat (better late than never),he puts a piece of kitchen rollon his head to stop the wounds, scabby bits from marking his hat ,inevitably the kitchen paper sometimes gets stuck to his head and is very painful to remove .

can you suggest a better method .

thankyou

  • Hi there and thanks for the post

I am sorry to hear about your dad's situation.

Yes, I agree I don't think kitchen roll is not the ideal thing to cover over the wounds on his head. He could try a non stick dressing pad from either a chemist or supermarket pharmacy department. There are number of different brands that make them and as long as they say non adherent they shouldn't stick.

    I hope this helps
