Cervical Cancer diagnosis - hysterectomy - NDF - Follow up appointment

I had a cervical cancer diagnosis last year, then I had a hysterectomy, after my surgery I received a letter to say that there was no further desease found.

I have my 6.month follow up appointment next week. Can anyone tell me what should I expect at this appointment? I have anxiety!

  • Hi there and thanks for your post

I am sorry to hear you needed to have surgery last year for cervical cancer and now have your 6 month follow up appointment coming up.

Most people experience some worry and anxiety in the lead up to an appointment and this is very normal. What will or won't happen at a follow up will vary between patients but generally they will ask you how you are and if you have any concerns about your health. Often tests are also run such as blood tests or scans but the hospital will tell you what needs to be done in your case.

There is general information about all of this you may find useful on our follow up after cervical cancer webpage.

Try not to worry from what you have said the surgery seemed successful and all the cancer was removed, so hopefully it will be a nice quick and straightforward appointment.

I hope this helps and everything goes well.

    Best wishes

    Naomi
