Breast worry

Hi I have a lump behind my nipple on my left breast, it’s been there a couple of years, I did have a mammogram and was told it is a cyst, nothing can be done as it is attached right behind the nipple, over the past few weeks I have noticed a change as my nipple has become dry and flaky and there is a red spot (pimple) that has appeared now I have a milky green discharge from this, should I be concerned?

thank you in advance

  • Hi Fiona

Definitely see you GP tomorrow. If the area is hot to the touch you feel unwell and have a high temperature go to A & E immediately

  • I will thank you for your reply

  • Hello and thanks for posting,

It isn't likely to be breast cancer. Do make an appointment to see your nurse practitioner at your GP surgery.

Otherwise you can seek a local pharmacist who will speak with you in private and advise you. You can try applying some antiseptic cream under their advice. Sometimes you can get a blocked infected skin follicle or a breast abscess. If it becomes redder and sore then you may need antibiotics and then would have to seek medical advice from your GP.

    Best wishes,
