If a letter states carcinoma xpsa what does that mean?
Hello and thanks for posting
It is hard for us to answer questions like this as we are not involved in your or the person you are enquiring for clinical care. The specialist team involved are better placed to advise further on this as they are familiar with all the medical details. If a specialist nurse is involved at the hospital, then perhaps they can provide further information. You often have to call and leave them a message and they will get back to you.
I wonder if there was possibly a typo in the letter and they meant to say carcinoma ex pleomorphic adenoma (CPXA) . This is a rare malignant salivary gland tumour that arises from the epithelial part of a pleomorphic adenoma (PA), which is a benign mixed tumour. I'm not sure if this is what they are referring to and you would need the doctors involved to confirm this.
Give us a ring if you would like to talk anything over. The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.
Kind regards,
Celene
