Waiting for poo test results so I can be referred despite examination of anus being suspect. Is this normal?

I have been having rectum problems since i had a hysterectomy in May 2021 for endometrial cancer. My GP has now fast tracked me to see an anal consultant as the finger test and examination of my anus looks suspect. I had to do a poo test first which i have completed. The GP said she couldnt refer me until the results of the poo test were back? I found this strange. Its just the not knowing is driving me nuts. Thanks for reading.

    I am sorry to hear about your situation and I can understand how unsettling it can be waiting to find out more.

    It is quite normal for the GP to get any results back so the consultant that you have been referred to has as much information as possible before they see you. Hopefully the results will come back soon.

    I know it can be hard waiting. Try and keep yourself busy and your mind on other things to until you know more.
