Itchy head with red patches

So I have had an itching scalp a year or so and had an mri on my head last 8th of July 24.

And a ct scan throat to pelvis end of June. Then mammogram and 1 breast ultrasound December. My hairdresser told me on Saturday re my head itch my head was full of red patches and the itch has been getting worse. So I was diagnosed 5 years and 8 months ago with triple negative breast cancer grade 3 4 cm tumour removed , chemotherapy lots and radiotherapy x 3 weeks with booster .

Should I contact my GP or nurse at the breast unit.

They discharged me last December but said if I ever became unwell they would get me in within one working day.

  • Hello and thanks for your enquiry,

Do make an appointment to see your GP in the first instance. They can assess you and possibly prescribe some scalp care products that may help. Your local pharmacist can also advise on this. If the pharmacist thinks you need a doctor to assess for a dermatology condition, then they would signpost you back to your GP anyway.

It could be Scalp psoriasis, and this is a common complaint in the general population, and your GP should be able to help.

I hope that you get this addressed soon,

    Best wishes,

    Vanda

  • Yes I have an appointment to see a nurse 29th April. Just trying currently to not over load my head and be more healthy in all. I think I'm okay don't think it's cancer as I feel well enough   thanks for replying.
