Post lletz issues

I am wondering if someone can help ease my mind.

I had a lletz procedure just over 3 weeks ago, a week later I got an awful infection and had to go back into hospital to have the cervix cauterised and be put on 2 lots of antibiotics for the infection.

The bleeding has almost stopped now finally....but now thrush symptoms. I spoke to the ward who advised I cannot use anything internally or externally due to the cervix still healing.

The pharmacy have prescribed me fluconazole that I can take orally....but I'm concerned that it's not just thrush...its very painful and very itchy. Sorry for TMI

  • Hi there and thanks for posting

I am sorry to hear about you needing a lletz procedure and the infection that followed, it sounds like this has been an unpleasant time for you.

Thrush can be extremely itchy and uncomfortable and hopefully the oral fluconazole will help clear this up. Remember to not use any soaps or shower gels around the area and wear cotton underwear if you can.

If the symptoms are ongoing or worsening do let the colposcopy clinic or GP know so they can reassess you.

I hope things settle down for you and you start feeling back to some sense of normal very soon.

    Take care

    Naomi
