Merkel Cell Carcinoma - brother is stage 4

Hi ,my brother has stage 4 MCC Cancer.He is 59 .All I know about this skin cancer is that is very rare,not much data is around.He is receiving treatment for the cancer.He is now stopped eating and he’s throat is sore ,He just be admitted to hospital this morning to try to sort out he’s throat and eating .Other than this I know nothing.I live in Liverpool,he’s on London.I am very worried what will happen .Please advice .

    It is difficult for us to say exactly what may happen to your brother, as we aren't part of his team. It may be that he can organise for you to speak with his doctors if he is happy for his medical information to be shared.

    There are different treatments for Merkle cell cancer, and many can cause problems with sore mouths and dietary problems. Hopefully, by getting him admitted to the hospital, the doctors can get on top of these and get him the nutritional support he needs.

    Do call his ward and ask to speak to the nurse looking after him and explain your distance and concern; they may be able to fill you in further.
