2months and still not started treatment, why is it taking so long ?

  • Hello and thank you for posting.

I am sorry to learn of your husband's situation. It can be a stressful and anxious time waiting for a treatment plan.

Not being involved in his care, unfortunately, we cannot say why it is taking a long time. Whether doctors have been waiting on further tests or scans. They must have all the correct information so they know what is the best way to treat the cancer. They will also discuss your husband's situation at the MDT meeting (multidisciplinary team meeting) where his diagnosis and treatment plan will be discussed. All of which can take time.

I wondered if you husband has been allocated a nurse specialist (CNS) who you could contact and discuss your concerns with or if it is possible to contact the cancer specialists secretary to find if there is any further information of when treatment may start as they may be able to speak to the specialist on your husbands behalf.

I hope you can get some answers soon. Please feel free to get back to us, if you have any further questions. If you would like to speak with one of the nurses on the helpline we are available between 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday and the freephone 0808 800 4040.

    Take care,

    Jemma
