Some advice please

Hi, I noticed a small spot almost like a birthmark on my left breast(reconstructed with implant) some weeks ago and did not think anything of it as it is in the same spot i had my punch biopsy taken, wo assumed it was a scar as it was very tiny. The spot has grown slighty larger and a bit red and now I am worried. I am phoning the breast care nurses this morning but has anyone has an experience of this. I don't know if it is fat necrosis or something else, so worried.

  • Hello Mo222 and thanks for your post,

It is good to hear that you have been in touch with the breast care nurses and hopefully they will ring you back soon. It doesn't sound too concerning particularly if it is the area that you had the punch biopsy. I am sure if the breast care nurses had concerns they would ask you to come in for a breast examination.

It is helpful being able to chat to other members of the forum but do remember everyone's situation is very different so it is difficult to compare one person with another.

I hope you know more soon.

    All the best,

    Catherine

  • Thanks Catherine , I have been asked to wait for a letter inviting me to have iit checked out. My worry is that the spot is growing and now a bit hard underneath. It's not very painful unless I touch it, I keep telling myself it looks like an infected hair follicle but there is no hair there!

  • Hello, and thank you for your further post.

I can appreciate that you are concerned, particularly if you have a history of breast cancer. This does not mean that this has been caused by cancer, but you have done the right thing by getting things checked.

It can be an anxious and stressful time waiting for appointments, and unfortunately, no one can say what the cause of the spot is until you are assessed.

Hopefully, you will hear from the hospital soon and can get reassurance. In the meantime, if you would like to talk to one of the nurses on the helpline, we are available between 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday, and the freephone number to call is 0808 800 4040.

    Take care,

    Jemma

  • Thank you Jemma, that's reassuring. I got the letter to attend next week, fingers crossed it is nothing.

    Thanks again.
