Pathology results?

Hi, I’ve just had a simple lumpectomy with Lymph node removal for biopsy for triple positive breast cancer. I’m now wondering how close my biopsy results will be to the pathology results from the operation. I’m terrified that they are going to tell me theres more cancer in there/ its spread to lymph nodes( both mri and ultra sound showed no auxiliary cancer) or  something even worse. I’ve booked to go away whilst I recover following my BCN advice no long hall flights no swimming etc but I feel that all I’m going to be doing whilst away is worrying. Is it normal for the results to come back similar or more likely that they are different. I know you cannot comment on my individual case but any idea would be appreciated.

  • Hi there and thanks for the post

I am sorry to hear about your recent surgery and that you are now worried about what the pathology results will come back as.

Try not to over think this if you can and rather enjoy your holiday whilst you rest and recover.

Sometimes the pathology will differ slightly from the original histology results but no one can say what will happen in your case. However it is important to rather dwell on the positives that both the scan and ultrasound you had didn't show any cancer in the lymph nodes and this is good news.

Hopefully you will know more soon but for now distract your mind and pop these thoughts to the back of your mind.

    All the best

    Naomi
