My 47 year old son was diagnosed with rectal bowel cancer 10 months ago. He was very fit and healthy with no symptoms.  After the first course of chemo and radiotherapy although the tumour has shrunk cells had spread to his liver.  He had an operation to ‘burn’ off the cysts, only partially successful.  After waiting for the liver to heal scans showed a further spread to the lungs and stomach.  His way of dealing with this is to just follow the normal route recommended by the Consultants.  He starts a further round of chemo next week to try and clear the spreads before fitting a stoma and removing the original bowel tumour.  Although this will, I hope  control, the tumour growth and clear the spread it is another delay.  The first chemo wasn’t 100% successful allowing a spread to the liver.  Is it time to look at alternative medicines INVERMECTIN and/or FENBENDAZOLA and immunotherapies.  Has anyone else faced these mind blowing decisions and what was/is the outcome.  I can’t stand by and just rely on the NHS like I did with my husbands Brain Tumour.
