I feel like i keep getting closed down by GPs

For 4 months i have been having PV bleeding after sex and in between periods.

on 21st feb i decided to get this checked at the Drs and have a smear. The GP did an urgent referral to Gyne and for a Scan. As she said my cervix looked pretty red. However my smear came back clear.

Since this appointment i have been bleeding constantly, getting heavier and heavier, passing large clots(bleeding through pads in an hour onto clothes etc) with a pain increase until they put me on Tablets to stop the bleeding. (which seem to of slowed it right down)

I had my scan yesterday which showed no fibroids, cysts or polyp's, when she looked at my womb she said it had a thickness of 7mm which is normal for midcycle. but should i be classed as mid cycle if im still currently bleeding and have been for 3 weeks HEAVY? i am so confused!

i have a history of a borderline ovarian tumour which was contained and removed when i was 22 so this is always in the back of my mind.

I have a gyne appointment on 9th April but im not sure what this is for.

I do feel like its getting shrugged off because of my age, but im really concerned about this.

Any advice or information is greatly appreciated <3

  • Hello and thank you for posting,

I am sorry to learn of your situation and that you are having symptoms that are causing you concern.

Not being involved in your care we cannot comment on the thickness of the womb. However, It is good news that your scan was clear.

I cannot say this for certain but I imagine that the appointment with the consultant is to check how things are, go through the results, and perhaps how to treat the bleeding. It might be worth trying to contact the consultant secretary to see if they can advise you about what the appointment in April is for. Also you could check with your GP if they have had your results from the hospital and see if they could go through them with you and talk through any concerns you may have.

I am sorry we cannot be more helpful on this occasion and I hope you can get more answers soon,

    Take care,

    Jemma
