  • Hello and thanks for posting,

I am sorry to hear you have a current difficult experience of constipation.

This can happen as a side effect of some chemotherapy drugs. It is important for you to tell your current chemotherapy care team at the hospital so that they know.

They can prescribe bowel medications to help, or else your GP can. It is important to drink fluids, ideally around 2 litres a day to help. Fruit and vegetables can help too.

The doctors can prescribe regular bowel medication that will aid regular bowel movements and not be too severe in action.

We have information on our website about managing constipation that may help.

Hopefully you will get this sorted out soon, moving forward.

    Best wishes,

    Vanda
