Hi ,
my partner has been diagnosed with cancer last year and went through 8 months of intense chemotherapy and radiotherapy.
He has finished his last chemotherapy 5 weeks ago , so we were both wondering when is it safe for us to have relations ?

Hello and thank you for posting.
I am sorry to learn that your husband needed to have both chemotherapy and radiotherapy, I hope he is recovering well.
You may find it helpful to read our information on Sex and Chemotherapy. So long as your husband feels well enough, then it is fine to start having sex. I realise it is 5 months since your husband's last treatment but generally, it is recommended to use a barrier method of contraception for a week after chemotherapy. I am unsure of your situation and if this would apply to you but it is recommended to use contraception for longer to avoid pregnancy and this will depend on the chemotherapy given.
I hope this helps in some way.
Please feel free to contact us again, if you would like to speak with one of our nurses on the helpline, we are available between 9 am and 5 pm freephone 0808 800 4040,
Take care,
Jemma
