My Mum is 90 and has just been told she likely has bowel cancer. She has refused an operation which would leave her with a stoma, and has been told that there is no other treatment they can offer. She has low iron but is taking supplements and generally feels well. She does though experience an urgency to poo and, when she does go, her stools are not fully formed - she describes them as being liske a paste.
i assume that this is a consequence of the tumour but we are not sure what the next stage may be - will this get worse so that she loses control of her bowel altogether or is this change a sign of significant deterioration in her conditions/ a sign that the cancer is spreading quickly?
Any insight will be appreciated.
Thanks
Jayne
