Progesterone Treatment in early stage, slow growing uterine cancer

Hello there, I have been told I have early slow growing endometrial cancer 1A. Has anybody used progesterone therapy for this with good results. I have been advised just to go for hysterectomy but that is a scary op.

  • Hello and thanks for posting

I'm sorry to read about your diagnosis.

Stage 1A endometrial cancer is a very early stage cancer. Doctors usually recommend a hysterectomy because it's the most effective way to remove the cancer completely.

Women who have low risk womb cancer and have not been through the menopause and would like to have children may be able to have progesterone treatment that preserves their fertility.

It usually requires careful monitoring with biopsies and scans. They will need to have treatment in a specialist centre. This might not be at a local hospital. This is not a standard treatment. So it is important to talk to your specialist about your options and the possible risks.

You have posted on the ask the nurses section of the forum but I see you are asking for other users experience. Anyone is welcome to reply on here but you may get more response from others who may be or have gone through similar by posting in a different section of the forum as well as here.
