Benign polyp and then not benign?

  • i had colonoscopy and they said I had a benign polyp 30mm. Taken off cancer pathway. Had colonoscopy to have large polyp removed and they could only take part of it. Now I have to have ct scan to see if it’s spread and part of colon removed in major surgery and it was 50mm. Don’t know what to think or feel. Gone from thinking I had benign Colyp to getting strong feeling it’s cancer and spreading. And worrying that they’ve left me for several months as it was logged as benign.

    I am very sorry to hear about your situation and appreciate what a worrying and unsettling time this must for you.

    Without being involved in your care we cannot say what has happened but would suggest you speak with the hospital involved to get a better understanding about this. The hospitals PALS Patient Advice Liaison Service should be able to look into this for you.

    At the same time the important thing now is that these further investigations are carried out to find out more and decide the next steps in terms of treatment.

    Try and take things one step at a time and wait and see what the doctors have to say.
