Support - have been told my wife may have breast cancer

My wife and I have just been told that she has two areas in her left breast that are unlikely to be benign. They have taken two biopsies and inserted two titanium markers.

We need to wait two weeks now for the results and the plan forward.

Through experience can you tell us how serious this is?

  • Hello and thanks for posting

I'm sorry you are worried about your health. Many people contact us because they are concerned that symptoms they have might be caused by cancer. We are unable to diagnose anyone and the best advice we can give is to go and see your doctor if your symptoms persist.

There are many medical explanations for symptoms and the majority will not turn out to be cancer especially at your young age. The majority of cancers develop in people over the age of sixty. But it is always sensible to get any problems you have checked out to be on the safe side.

Try if you can to give up smoking as it is best for your overall health in the long run. Your GP can offer support with this.

If we can help in any other way please do contact us again. If you would prefer to speak to one of the nurses directly, you can telephone us on 0808 800 4040. We are here from Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm.

    Kind regards,
