Candida not healing.

Hello,  it’s nice to be here with you all,

and just to seek help that others have found worked

will be if great  encouragement.

I have terminal cancer, on target therapy 6 yrs now.( F.aged 76)

I have  had four years intermittent antibiotic treatment, left me with  constant Candida.

GP just gives repeat-prescription cream.

I was told the normal treatment to clear, would mean my cancer treatment would need to stop,

as it’s a three months coarse. That would not be advisable in my case.

Can anyone recommend a good a probiotic cream that would clear this,

as I feel the Candida has colonised my whole body.

Right now, on my skin, especially  corner lip,  and eye, and around skin in big toe, that has fungal nail

coupled with ingrown toenail they say must be removed, but the treatment to remove nail

works against cancer treatment, so I am in limbo.

Thank you.

MaraMac.

  • Hello MaraMac and thank you for your posting,

I am sorry to learn of your situation and that you now have constant candida, this must be very difficult.

You mentioned that your GP has repeatedly prescribed the same cream. I wondered when you last spoke to your cancer specialist at the hospital and if they were aware of the impact this is having on you. Whether or not they have any advice from their experience with patients who may be in a similar situation. I also wondered if you have any involvement from the palliative care team and if so if they can help with this. As you are most likely to be aware, the main treatment would be antifungal medicines and there are different types.

Unfortunately, we cannot recommend a probiotic cream, if you haven't done it already might be worth checking with your team, or perhaps the hospital pharmacist might be able to recommend something as they know your situation and what treatment you are having.

I am sorry we cannot be more helpful on this occasion and I can appreciate this must be frustrating.

Please feel free to come back to us if you would like to talk things through with one of our nurses we are available between 9am and 5pm from Monday to Friday and the freephone number to call is 0808 800 4040,

    Take care
