Paused treatment

My husband has stage 3 incurable lung cancer he has a radiotherapy and 3 out of 6 rounds of chemo and immunotherapy. His treatment was paused in January due to the side effects he was having. He still doesn't feel right and bearly eats ( he's living off one or two bowls of soup a day). He doesn't want to start treatment again untill he is feeling better and able to enjoy his food. I am worried that the long delay in treatment is doing more damage than good. Should I be worried?

Thank you.

  • Hello Kezla and thank you for your enquiry,

I am sorry to learn of your husband's situation this must be such a difficult time for you all.

I can appreciate you are concerned that your husband has not been able to finish his course of treatment. Unfortunately, we cannot say what this means as we are not involved in his care.

I wondered if your husband has a nurse specialist (CNS) who you can discuss your concerns with and who knows his situation, they might be able to say how effective the treatment has been so far.

I realise there is a lot of uncertainty for you and I am sorry that we cannot be more helpful. If you would like to talk things through with one of our nurses on the helpline we are available between 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday and the freephone number to call is 0808 800 4040,

    Take care,

    Jemma
