GP appointment and results

Hi

I had an endoscopy 3 weeks ago due to swallowing problems. They took biopsies but said it was unlikely anything to worry about, they said I've got strictures/inflammation from reflux. (Couldn't get camera past and gave me omeprazole and said they'd try again in 6 weeks)

However had message from GP today to ask to discuss results. I took the earliest appointment in a week's time.

This will be just over four weeks after the biopsies were taken. Should I be thinking cancer or would that be an appointment with the specialist?

I'm sure it's fine but I'm just starting to worry now.

Thanks to anyone who can advise!

  • Hello and thanks for posting

It is never easy waiting to get results but regardless of where someone receives their results from their doctor, there is no way of knowing in advance what the results will show. Hopefully, everything will be fine, but your doctor needs to confirm this.

Easier said than done but try and take it one step at a time until you know more. Some people find talking it through with family and friends and keeping busy can sometimes help. Also try and focus on what you can control right now by eating a good diet, getting enough rest, and doing some gentle activities that you enjoy.

I hope you know more soon and that everything turns out to be okay.

    Kind regards,

    Celene
