- I have been using Efudix once a day for 7 weeks and after use a yellow paste which i believe is called 'slough' appears over the top. Should i remove it and reapply or leave it?
Hello and thanks for posting,
Efudix cream can take up to 2 hours to soak into the skin according to the manufacturers. They say that you can apply other creams such as suncream to the area after that.
So it seems that you can clean or remove any ooze/slough after this time. Please do check this out with the doctor who prescribed this for you and they can advise moving forward.
I hope this helps,
Best wishes,
Vanda
Hi Daisy
I use Efudix frequently, after 7 weeks use your skin must be very angry and sore.
A few hours after application you can wash the area gently with soap and water. Try not to pick off any itchy scabs if they form as it can break the skin and leave it open to infection.
I usually apply it in the morning as it is on my face and head, and wash the area at night when I have a shower. This prevents it getting onto my eyelids during the night.
Ask your GP or clinic if you are able to have a mild steroid cream towards the end of your treatment to take the inflammation and heat out of the treated area
All the best
Ed
Thanks Ed. My face isnt really sore at all just red and after putting on cream it goes a crusty yellow. I thought maybe that it was trying to heal but the cream must be finding more skin damage. Its only a small area which must be why its not as sore but it looks fairly angry. I suppose i carry on with cream until it stops going crusty? I will check wirh gp on Friday.
