High-grade 4 squamous dyskaryosis (severe).

Hello,

im awaiting contact from the hospital.

i have had low grade changes before what have always been looked at and no treatment required.

im very concerned now that its been marked as grade 4 when i thought only went to grade 3, so does this mean its now cancerous?

My results say High-grade 4 squamous dyskaryosis (severe).
thanks

  • Hello and thank you for posting.

I do not know what this means for you, and how abnormal these cells are. It is only the pathology team who have graded the taken cells in the laboratories and your hospital team who will know for sure.

However, what I can say is that with the grading system that we are aware of any high-grade abnormal cells (dyskaryosis) will always require treatment. I expect that you will now have an appointment at the hospital to talk through what they have found and what treatment will be best.

I realise this is a difficult time of uncertainty, not knowing whats happening, but until you see your own team no one is able to say whats going on.

I hope you do not have long to wait for your hospital appointment.

Take care and if you want to talk things through with one of the nurses the number is freephone 0808 800 4040. Lines are open mon-fri, 9-5pm.

    Sarah.
