Lymph nodes

I have swollen lymph nodes where my shoulder joins my neck and one at the back of my neck. I have seen my gp who has told me to go back in sick weeks. The nodes are painful. I am on a biological treatment for rheumatoid arthritis. I have had an ulcer in my mouth which I've had since before Christmas. The dentist has looked at this and doesn't think it's anything to be concerned. Should I wait six weeks?

  • Hello Lesleyor Lanky,

I am sorry to hear about your situation. It is however difficult for me to advise you without being involved in your care. If you are under the care of the rheumatologist could you get their opinion on your painful nodes and whether it could be related to the biological treatments that you are having.

If it is not possible to get advice from the rheumatologists and the pain continues or gets worse then do go back to your GP or another GP in the practice to get advice on pain control.

I have come across 2 support charities for arthritis and you may find it helpful to chat to others who are in a similar situation.

    Have a look at

Versus arthritis and NRAS (National Rheumatoid Arthritis Society).

I hope that these links may be helpful.

I wish you all the best,

    Catherine
