Lump on Labia

I woke up one morning early last week with a lump on my outer labia- almost parallel to the clitorous . it is really painful and oval shaped. I thought it was an ingrown hair but I cannot see any hair in there.
Another lump came up on the top this one however is under the skin and not visible to the eye, only to the touch and a little bit painful too although not as much.

Doctors said they cannot get me in until next week but I haven’t been able to sleep with the anxiety that this is vulvar cancer. I’m only 20 but not knowing what this painful lump is is causing me so much stress.

  • Hi Buzybee 27 and thank you for your post.

I’m sorry you are worried about your recent symptoms and can understand you wanting to find out more.

I'm afraid we are unable to diagnose or tell anyone if anything is the matter. Symptoms can have straightforward medical explanations such as Bartholins cyst . But only a doctor can make a medical assessment so the best thing to do is keep your GP appointment. They will assess you and decide whether you need to go for further tests.

I know having symptoms is a stressful situation but cancer is rare in someone of your age .

You may find Anxiety UK and Every Mind Matters helpful websites with useful tips and advice on how to cope whilst waiting to see your GP.

I really hope you know more soon and that everything will be okay for you.

Please get back to us if you need any more information or support. You may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline. The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Kind regards

    Tina
