Pancreatic Cancer, initial testing

I presented with sudden onset upper left quadrant back pain with pain through to tummy and intense feeling of bloating, history of gall bladder removal 2004. Now 51. Been feeling excessively tired too and noticing pain like less acute biliary colic with foods such as cheddar cheese and Greek yoghurt. Finding it impossible to lie on my left side for 2-3 weeks and pain not manageable with Dihydrocodiene. Had blood tests including pancreatic enzymes and infection markers, and now Dr. wants to call me with results, tomorrow. Is there something wrong? Can my results be abnormal and I don’t have pancreatic cancer? Worried!

  • Hello Elmo2025 and thank you for posting,

I am sorry to learn you are having these symptoms. It can be an anxious and stressful time waiting for tests and test results.

Unfortunately, we cannot tell what the doctor will say and what the blood results may show.

Blood tests cannot diagnose cancer, but if any abnormalities are found then further tests such as a scan may be needed to give the doctors more information.

For now, all you can do is wait until you see the doctor and they will then be able to give you more information. Easier said than done if you can, just take one step at a time and try not to overthink things.

I hope you have friends or family who you can lean on during this time and I hope your results are OK.

    Take care,

    Jemma
