Hi
I’ve been diagnosed with grade 3 triple positive breast cancer and the area where the lump is has started to ache. I’m terrified it’s spreading, is this possible or is it psychosomatic?

Hello Jobieejo and thanks for your post,
I am sorry to hear about your situation. I can understand that when you are first diagnosed there is so much to take on board.
I can't say what the ache in the breast may be but it could be where you had the biopsy or possibly because of all the breast examinations that you may have had in getting you to this point. Your breast cancer would be unlikely to be spreading quite so quickly but you are best talking this all through with your team.
Your case will have been discussed at a Breast MDT where you may well have been allocated a breast care nurse (BCN)
Your BCN should be able to help explain what your treatment options may be.
There is lots of support that is available and it may help to connect with other people with a similar cancer. You have posted in 'ask the nurses' but if you post in a different thread or start your own you may find that you get more responses.
Breast Cancer Now offer a service called Someone Like Me where they can try and put you in touch with other women in a similar situation.
You may have a Maggies near you. They offer lots of support on line and in person and they also offer various courses and workshops
I do hope that you have more information soon. It may help to read through the various links so you have more understanding about how the doctors may treat your cancer.
If you would like to discuss any of this on the helpline you are welcome to give us a call. The nurses are here Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm and our Freephone number is 0808 800 4040.
All the best,
Catherine
