My T3 non muscle invasive cancer has returned after 4 years

My T3 non muscle invasive cancer has returned after 4 years.

I have had 3 courses of BCG instillation in this time.

This has clearly failed.

I am 76 years old and in good health.

What are my options please (I am not afraid of surgery)

  • Hello Ronnie6443 and thanks for your post,

I am sorry to hear about your situation.

Without being involved in your care it is difficult for us to say what your next steps should be.

We do have some information on our website about different treatment options for bladder cancer but you would need to ask your doctors what treatment would be best for you.

The doctors may suggest surgery but you would need to discuss this with them.

The other thing that you may consider is a clinical trial.

We have more information about joining a trial here.

Trials are not always straight forward. To join a trial you would need to be referred by your doctor to the doctor running the trial. if you are living in London there is the option of being referred to another London teaching hospital if there was a trial available.

You are very welcome to ring and discuss any of this with one of the helpline nurses.

Our number is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm.

    All the best,

    Catherine

  • Dear Catherine,
Thank you so much for your reply.
As you rightfully pointed out, my cancer diagnosis is a broad subject and impossible to to pin down in a post.
I am seeing my consultant tomorrow and need to go in armed with the right questions; forwarned is foreamed, right?
The information and links you have provided are really useful and I am now more confident with my consultation tomorrow.
    Kindest regards,
    Ronald6443
